CBS has renewed How I Met Your Mother for a further two seasons, taking the show through its eighth season in 2012/13. CBS and Twentieth Century Fox Television announced the multi-year broadcast deal today.
"We are so proud of this show and all of its creative and ratings achievements," said Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment. How I Met Your Mother premiered in 2005 on CBS and has been part of the network's highly rated Monday comedy block ever since. The show is CBS's highest-rated series among adults 18-34 and has posted improved ratings in its current sixth season.
Outside of the show's ratings success, How I Met Your Mother has also had critical acclaim and award recognition. Neil Patrick Harris has earned four consecutive Emmy Award nominations, while the show was nominated for "Outstanding Comedy Series" in 2009.
